Transform 66 Outside the Beltway
Overview
VDOT megaproject, widening 22 miles of interstate on I-66 from Gainesville, VA to the I-495 Beltway. Major construction activities contracted to Laurita Inc. included demolition, bulk excavation & grading, underground utility installations and relocations (storm, water, power), box culvert installations, fine grading and installation of aggregate subbase. Beginning construction efforts in fall of 2018, Laurita worked on the design-build project through early spring of 2023 with a field crew of 100+ workers and 70+ pieces of heavy equipment dedicated to the project installing 50,000+ LF of storm pipe, 350+ structures, and over ½ million TNs of aggregate subbase.
