Your Job Summary
As a safety coordinator at Laurita Inc., you will work with the Safety Director to ensure compliance with safety and environmental policies on active job sites. The core job duties of a safety coordinator are to conduct safety audits and inspections, ensure safety is a priority on job sites, ensure proper documentation of safety meetings, inspections, and incident investigations, evaluate and improve work procedures to ensure safety at all times, and to represent Laurita Inc. in safety meetings with clients.
Essential Job Duties
- Ensure Laurita Inc. employees and sub-contractors, vendors, suppliers, and visitors adhere to client-specific and company-specific safety guidelines and policies
- Provide safety guidance when planning operations throughout projects
- Attend and conduct daily safety meetings with Laurita Inc. crews, and subcontractor crews on projects
- Attend and contribute to client safety meetings on projects
- Attend outside training
- Ensure timely and proper safety documentation of safety meetings, toolbox talks, JHA’s, incident investigations & more for both internal documentation and client/project-specific documentation.
- Actively improve safety policies, procedures, and documentation of safety initiatives
Desired Skills and Knowledge
- Valid driver's license
- Clean Driving Record
- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health or related field (preferred but not required)
- Three years of previous construction experience preferred (preferred but not required)
- OSHA 30-hour certification (company will provide if not already certified)
- Current CPR/FA certification (company will provide if not already certified)
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety procedures
- Excellent communication skills that will be applied to discuss and implement safety standards and procedures both at the field level and with management.
- Excellent organizational skills used to timely schedule and document daily, weekly, and monthly safety meetings & inspections
- Computer and software skills (Microsoft Office suite & HCSS software)
- Bi-lingual – English & Spanish (preferred but not required)
- Follow all policies and procedures, with strict attention to SAFETY, per company standards.
- Able to climb up and down ladders, steps, platforms, and decks repeatedly.
